Hello, two-legged readers. My CCL (Cantankerous Cat Lady) has informed me that we will not be publishing on this website for a while — perhaps we will never write to you again. I hope that is not the way things turn out, as I found it very satisfying to communicate with you here.
It has been my intention to try to help both two-leggeds and cats to a greater understanding of each other. I will miss the opportunity to continue furnishing such enlightenment as I could on the subject. I hope that you have found my posts to be of value in strengthening the bond between your cats and you. I also hope that our conversations can continue at some future time.
Routine Is Vital For A Cat

As you can guess, I am not very happy with CCL’s decision to stop writing to you and to focus instead on what she calls “downsizing.” This downsizing process has not been very enjoyable for Mocha and me. As you know, cats like their routine and do not like it to be changed.
For a time, our routine was in a shambles because CCL started changing everything in the house, and nothing followed the usual pattern. We spent time hiding or making ourselves scarce when CCL rushed around the house, sorting things, boxing them up, and moving them.
Why Are The Books All Over The Floor?

We have yet to become accustomed to the boxes of books spread over the living room floor. Our nice sofa was moved from the office to the living room. It has been replaced with tables that are now covered with all manner of things that CCL wants to sell. The sofa still feels the same — I’ve tried sleeping on it — but now it is not close to where CCL works. We liked snoozing there close by. Instead, our choice is now the top of the freezer or the high window behind CCL’s desk. We could nap on the nice bed at the far end of the office, but it’s so far away it might as well be in another room.
Don’t Change Kitty’s Schedule
At least we are still getting meals on schedule and our other morning activities are continued. It just isn’t the same, though…we tend to wonder what is coming next. Do take one last lesson from our unfortunate situation. Please remember that if you have to move, try to keep your cat’s schedule as much the same as you can. Give lots of attention, love, and of course extra treats during such a time. Then, your kitty will know all is well and that he/she has not done something to cause these huge changes.
Love Can Be So Soothing
Be understanding of your cat’s lack of understanding. It’s one of those times when we would be so much better off if we spoke the same language! What can’t be said in words can be communicated through strong evidence of love and caring.

And speaking of caring, know that I care about you and appreciate the time you have taken to read my posts. I do hope this conversation is not our last. We have much more to say to each other.
Meanwhile, may you move forward in health and happiness and keep hoping that we will be back to talk to you again. Farewell, fine two-legged friends, from Lucinda, who will look forward to meeting again in the future.
